Since
my retirement from breeding exotic birds, I have found life a bit
boring. I do however, in the summer months, have a “Sheep
Summer Camp”. I baby sit sheep here at the farm, from Spring,
when they have had their babies, until Fall when it is time to return
home to be bred again.
One
of the ladies, who owns the sheep I sit for, made me a doll holding
a lamb and a bird in her arms. The doll was made out of wool from
some of my “campers”. She told me she made it by sticking
needles into wool, and it is called needle felting. I was so impressed
with it I began to research needle felting. I found you can buy
kits, instruction tapes, etc. and so I began my new hobby….Needle
Felting.
I
have always wanted to draw pictures of landscape and paint birds
and animals, but have never been able to put my thoughts on paper.
With needle felting I can do this and even if it doesn't look exactly
like what you intend it to, it is rewarding to at least have a completed
project. Just goes to show you, it’s never too late in life
to learn something new.
The
pictures in this gallery are my “projects” from the
very beginning. This will enable us to watch my progress in my new
journey to become a good fiber artist. I will keep posting pictures
as I complete my “subjects”. If you have any questions,
suggestions, etc. please email me. I would love to hear from anyone
who has an interest in needle felting.

was
fun to make but he seemed so thin. I followed the instructions

"Mad
Momma"
While
awaiting the arrival of more kits, I decided to make something
without a pattern. A hookbill hen on eggs. Species is unknown.
Colors mean nothing...just using up old wool. Seemed like
a good idea at the time. Gave me an opportunity to use my
imagination
